The Tapada das Mercês Youth House is a space where children, young people and even adults can find cultural and leisure activities.
Work with
the Youth Center
The work with the Aga Khan Foundation was followed and continued in the Casa da Juventude space (a youth center) in Tapada das Mercês.
Here, aesthetic renovations were also carried out in the space, through muralism and graffiti, as well as the continuation of the workshops and training courses initiated with the foundation.
Above, is a video made by me to promote one of the workshop and training activities carried out at Casa da Juventude.
To transform this video into a finished product with quality worthy of being shared, the challenge was to take the material, often captured with the equipment available at the time (mobile phones, for example), by the foundation's staff and partner associations.
The videos were very distorted in both image and audio, so they were stabilized in post-production using Adobe After Effects and Audtion and later edited and assembled in Adobe Premiere.
Grow Gaming

One of the works carried out for the youth center was a gaming room, belonging to the organization Grow UP Gaming. This space aims to provide an inviting leisure place for young people who do not have the conditions to play games at home, as well as organizing gaming tournaments.
The wall above was created to celebrate this organization's anniversary along with the inauguration of the room. It was created with guidance from Grow UP, who made sure to include some characters from games that have been present in their journey over the years.
One of the requests was, obviously, the inclusion of its characteristic logo and the Grow UP mascot, "Upzito" (visible in the top right corner of the wall).

After posting the promotional video and the registration of participants, preparation began for workshops on two walls, one indoors, the other outdoors, with two different age groups.
The interior wall, shown above, was dedicated to our little ones, ranging from 5 to 10 years old.
The concept here was to explore creative freedom, assigning a letter to each child, and they could draw, within the letter, on a free theme.

To finish, the 3 members of CriAtividades (roughly translated to "CreActivity's", an informal group I am part of) created an outline and put the finishing touches on the composition in order to beautify the piece as a whole without touching the drawings made by the children.
On the exterior wall, the concept was adapted and participants helped CriAtividades compose a piece of muralism.
Here with a higher age range (from 11 to 17 years old), it was possible to elaborate a little more and each young person was given a photo, Polaroid style, to fill with compositions created by participants in past workshops.
On the side we can see the before and after, but above all, the impact that these interventions have on these spaces.
Walls
During the Juventude CriAtiva workshops and training sessions, 3 walls were already being prepared in the central space of the youth center, each one assigned to a member of the CriAtividades group, to express their artistic style, within the cultural and leisure theme of the institution.
For my wall, I chose a recurring style in my personal art and with which I identify a lot, Surrealism, which allows me to approach an imaginary world and the theme of dreams.
In this piece, in which a book opens and through its words gives shape to a verdant terrain, I leave, of my own authorship, a phrase:
"On each page a World
In each Book, a Universe ."
